Chestnut Grove's Parent Board

Chestnut Grove's volunteer Parent Board raises funds to help equip the school and maintain the playground in conjunction with the teachers and staff.  The board works closely with the school director to provide information to parents and special activities for the children.  The board consists of parents and a member of Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church, if available.  The director sits on the board as a non-voting member and keeps the board informed of policies, procedures, activities and staffing.

We welcome new members! If you are interested in volunteering for the Parent Board, please stop into the office and inquire during school hours.

Events and fundraising activities sponsored by our Parent Board include:

- Music and Yoga -- The board sponsors a music enrichment program for the 3s and a Yoga enrichment program for the 4s.

- Cultural Activities -- Activities such as EdZoocation, Eric Energy, Eastereggstraveganza, and other in-house programs, as well as field trips to Goucher and the Jones Family Farm.

Parent Decorating Night -- Parents help transform our Big Room into a Christmas wonderland for our children to discover the next morning.

Elf Shop -- An annual tradition that gives children in the 3s and 4s classes the opportunity to "shop" for holiday gifts for their family members.

Spring Fair -- Games, food and fun for the whole family. The silent auction at our fair is always a big hit as is the raffle for teacher baskets.

- Handprint Tiles -- Students and alumni are invited to create colorful handprint tiles which are used to decorate the walls of the Big Room.  Tiles feature a child's handprint, name and year of graduation.  Extra tiles make great holiday gifts!
